How to use Sharpen Image

  1. Choose the image and set a sharpening amount.
  2. Preview the edges at normal zoom to judge the effect.
  3. Reprocess from the original at a lower amount if halos or noise appear.
  4. Download the sharpened PNG copy.
Practical example

Add moderate crispness to a slightly soft product photo before web use.

Check your result before using it

Compare a full-size crop around lettering, hair and a high-contrast edge before choosing the sharpened result. Bright or dark halos and amplified noise indicate that the effect is too strong. Sharpening can increase apparent edge contrast but cannot recreate missing focus or genuine fine detail. Keep the original, and assess the output at its intended display size rather than judging only an enlarged preview.

When to use Sharpen Image

  • Add crispness to a slightly soft product photo before publishing it
  • Improve the apparent detail of a scanned or resized image
  • Refresh an older photo before reusing it on a website

Important limitations

  • Sharpening cannot restore detail that was never captured.
  • High amounts can exaggerate noise, halos and JPEG artifacts.

Troubleshooting Sharpen Image

Edges show bright halos

Return to the original and use a lower sharpening amount instead of sharpening the already processed copy.
