What this converter does

The tool reads the paragraph text from a modern .docx file and lays it out as clean, readable pages in a new PDF. It runs entirely in your browser and does not need Word, LibreOffice or an upload.

It does not reproduce the document's design. Images, custom fonts, heading styles, headers and footers, and table layout are not carried across; the text of a table becomes separate paragraphs. Older .doc files from Word 97–2003 are not supported.

When it is the right tool

• Drafts and text-heavy documents where the words matter more than the styling, such as a written statement, meeting minutes or a story submission.
• Creating a read-only copy for a reviewer who must not edit the original.
• Working on a computer where Office is not installed and you cannot upload the document to an online service.

When to use your word processor instead

If the PDF must look exactly like the document, export it from the application that understands the layout. In Microsoft Word choose File, then Save As or Export, and pick PDF. In LibreOffice Writer choose File, then Export As, then Export as PDF. In Google Docs choose File, then Download, then PDF document. These preserve fonts, images, tables, headers and page numbering because the program that designed the page is drawing it.

How to convert a DOCX to PDF

1. Confirm the file ends in .docx. If it ends in .doc, open it in a word processor and save it as .docx first.
2. Choose the file in Word to PDF and start the conversion.
3. Download the PDF and read through the first and last pages to confirm all text is present.
4. If you notice that a table or image matters to the reader, switch to exporting from your word processor for this document.

A worked example

A volunteer writes a two-page witness statement in Word on a shared library computer that has no PDF printer and no Office licence for exporting. The statement is plain paragraphs with a heading and a signature line. Converting the .docx gives a clean, paginated PDF in seconds without signing in to anything or leaving a copy on a server, which is exactly what the situation calls for.

The same volunteer's newsletter, with photographs and a two-column layout, is a different case. Text export would lose the photographs, so the newsletter should be exported to PDF from the program it was designed in.

Checks before you send the PDF

• Search the PDF for a distinctive phrase from the last paragraph to confirm nothing was cut off.
• Check that tracked changes and comments were resolved in the original first. Accept or reject them in Word, then convert, so the PDF reflects the final wording.
• If the recipient needs to sign, add a signature with Sign PDF rather than printing and scanning.
• If the content is confidential, apply Protect PDF to the result.

Why the result looks plainer than your document

A .docx file is a package of XML describing paragraphs, styles, embedded images, fonts and page settings. A faithful PDF needs a full layout engine to measure every line, apply each style and position each image, which is what Word and LibreOffice do when they export. This tool reads the paragraph text and typesets it consistently, so every document comes out in the same clean, readable style regardless of how it was formatted.

That design keeps the converter small enough to run inside a browser tab with no upload. It also means bold headings, colours and spacing chosen in the original are replaced by uniform formatting, which is worth knowing before you send the PDF to someone who expects to see your design.
